A shared path toward corporate and environmental sustainability

EcoVadis

Since 2023, Telema has embarked on its sustainability journey through EcoVadis.

EcoVadis is an independent platform that assesses companies' sustainability performance, focusing on environmental, social, ethical, and responsible procurement aspects. It provides a detailed scorecard based on internationally recognized standards, such as those of the United Nations, the OECD, and ISO. Used by thousands of companies worldwide, EcoVadis helps organizations monitor, improve, and communicate their commitment to corporate social responsibility, promoting sustainable practices throughout the supply chain. Last year, Telema earned the Bronze Medal, placing among the top 35% of companies in the bronze category.

Partner Green Future Project

In 2025, we started a partnership with Green Future Project, a Benefit Corporation and B Corp specialized in supporting companies along their sustainability journey through advanced software solutions.

Thanks to this collaboration, we have begun monitoring our energy consumption and calculating the equivalent CO₂ emissions generated by our activities.

Our goal is clear: to become an increasingly conscious and responsible company by adopting targeted strategies to reduce our carbon footprint and the overall environmental impact of our operations.

WHAT IS THE GHG PROTOCOL?

The calculation of our carbon footprint follows the principles of the GHG Protocol, the international standard that classifies emissions into three categories:

Beyond Regulations and Future Commitments

As mentioned in the introduction, Telema's commitment to ESG-related issues goes far beyond regulatory compliance.

Between 2009 and 2011, solar panels were installed on the roofs of most of our facilities to increase self-production of clean energy — at a time when no regulations required such installations.

In more recent years, driven by the initiative and know-how of Telema's management, a start-up was founded in the field of thermodynamic controlled mechanical ventilation, with the goal of expanding into the then-emerging sector of sustainable building.

To this end, the start-up's headquarters were located within a section of our Piacenza management and production facility, which was renovated according to CasaClima R standards, achieving the highest certification available at the time for building renovation.

This anticipated by several years the now crucial topics of improving the energy efficiency of existing buildings.

The New Piacenza Plant: Future and Sustainability

The New Piacenza Plant: Future and Sustainability

The design of the new headquarters, inaugurated in conjunction with the fiftieth anniversary of Telema’s founding, integrates advanced criteria of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The building features high-performance thermal envelopes and a heat pump system powered by a 470 kW photovoltaic plant, significantly reducing both energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.

A rainwater collection and reuse system supplies irrigation for the surrounding green areas and agricultural fields, while electric vehicle charging stations promote more sustainable corporate mobility.

The outdoor spaces have been redeveloped with a landscaping plan that includes over 100 trees and 200 native shrubs, selected for their ability to absorb CO₂ and fine dust while improving the local microclimate. Among the planted species are Carpinus betulus, Fraxinus excelsior and Quercus robur fastigiata, which together will store more than 380,000 kg of CO₂ over their life cycle.

The landscape project was developed following the criteria of the REBUS program of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the MASAF, in collaboration with the CNR, to ensure ecological coherence and the enhancement of local biodiversity.
