With the entry into force of the European Regulation 2016/1628, STAGE V, the guidelines and limits of the gas emissions of diesel engines are defined. This regulation influences the design of the NRMM (non-road mobile machinery), a category which includes  the portable power generators (e.g. for rent).
The legislation is complied with by installing special particulate filters in the generating sets. The essential condition for the filter to work properly is that the generating set works at its design temperature; to achieve this, the installation of a minimum load is required. TELEMA is able to supply load banks to be installed on the radiators of the generating sets.

The new Stage V legislation for diesel engine emissions requires the redesign of portable generators generally used for rental and used on construction sites, events, for periodic tests and many other  industrial applications. To ensure compliance of the generator set with the Regulations and to achieve emissions reduction, special particulate filters must be installed. The prerequisite for the filter to run properly is that the generator set works at its design temperature; to achieve this, the installation of a minimum load is required. TELEMA is able to supply load banks to be installed on the generators' radiators in order to guarantee this minimum power when the load supplied by the group is too low. The type, dimensions and characteristics of the load banks can be designed and proposed by TELEMA based on the specific needs of the customer. The legislation provides for a transition period of 2 years starting from January 1, 2019 or 2020, depending on the power of the engine and therefore  of the generator set; after this period all NRMM (non-road mobile machinery) must comply with the European Regulation
